Guyana crowned a new Chutney King at the Mashramani Chutney Monarch 2024 and he is Vicadi Singh.

Vicadi became emotional and shed tears of joy on stage as he returned for an encore performance after being announced the winner.

He told the crowd gathered at Anna Regina Carpark that five years ago he joined this very competition and was eliminated. “It broke me, but I never gave up.”

Singh said five days ago his two-year-old daughter was hospitalised with a high fever and he felt broken again and felt he could not ‘do this’.  However, he said when his daughter sprung back up, she showed him faith, and he did this performance for her.

“My message is whatever your struggle… whatever you are going through… whoever you loss… I sympathise, I empathise.”

The results of the 2024 Mashramani Chutney Monarch are as follows:

  • 1st position- Vicadi Singh, 261 points – Gone Away
  • 2nd position- Bunty Singh, 259 points – We are one Guyana
  • 3rd position- Vanita Willie, 256 points –Never forget where I come from
  • 4th position- Sonia Singh, 235 points – I am married
