Enjoy the Christmas but be watchful to avoid that unguarded moment

Dear Editor,

I have no doubt that we’ll have the usual outpourings of good wishes for Christmas. Like every other Guyanese I would like to wish all of us at home and abroad a cheerful Christmas.

Interrogating Cronyism in Education

However, this month we experienced the trauma of losing senior military Officers, an International Cricketer and others on our roadways and yet others as a result of domestic violence.

Let us be reminded of the fragility of life and the need to regard each moment as  an opportunity to secure the safety and well being of those around us and ourselves. We must at all times be wary of that “unguarded moment.”

The unguarded moment that can change pleasure to sorrow and suffocate the potential of a bright future.

As we enjoy the goodies and the company of family and friends who travel to Guyana at this time, I ask us to be cautious and avoid that unguarded moment.

As we leave our bathroom and step outside as a pedestrian, cyclist or motorist, be careful, whether we travel by land, sea or air. Be cautious and avoid that unguarded moment.

Enjoy the Christmas but be watchful to avoid that unguarded moment.

Merry Christmas.
