The new $85 million Ms. Avril Crawford Block was commissioned at the St. Winefride’s Secondary School on Wednesday by Minister of Education Priya Manickchand.

The two-storey building houses several classrooms and a modern, fully outfitted science laboratory. The new classrooms can accommodate approximately 100 students.

Delivering the feature address, Minister Manickchand stated that the Minister of Education is on a mission to ensure each child is comfortably accommodated and has access to a quality education.

She noted that students at the St. Winefride’s Secondary School who were attending school on a rotation due to the lack of accommodation are now able to attend school daily to receive an education.

Headteacher, Ms. Rowena Seymore said that the new block brings great relief to both the administration and the students, as they will serve to better accommodate classes, eliminating the issue of cramped spaces.

Singh and Son’s Construction was awarded the contract for the project.
