The United States Embassy in Guyana celebrates the International Day of the Girl on October 11 and has singled out Team Guyana Robotics. The embassy in a statement on its Facebook lauded the team’s excellent performance at the 2023 FIRST Global Robotics Challenge in Singapore.

As the only all-female team from the Caribbean, the girls represented Guyana, placing 23rd out of 191 participating countries. Acknowledging the remarkable accomplishment the embassy gave the young ladies a shout-out, noting “Great work, girls!! ”

International Day of the Girl Child is an international observance day declared by the United Nations (UN) on October 11, 2012, and marked on the same date every year since.  According to the UN, International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.
