Former mayor of Georgetown , Pt. Ubraj Narine, graced the 154th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with his presence Monday. The event, held at the Promenade Gardens, was a tribute to the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, considered one of the most respected leaders in history.

“Mahatma Gandhi, or Bapu as he is lovingly called, was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the principles of truth, nonviolence, and humanity. His teachings continue to guide us towards a path of peace and unity, reminding us of the power that lies within each individual to make a positive difference in the world.”

To this end Narine has called on society to  take this opportunity to reflect upon Gandhi’s profound ideals, and to cultivate them within ourselves. “Together, let us tread on the path of truth and nonviolence, working towards a better and more harmonious world.”
