In a world where stereotypes often dictate our paths, there are individuals who challenge convention and break barriers to pursue their passions. Meet Rakesh Premaul, a 30-year-old paralegal whose journey is not only inspiring but also defies expectations. Rakesh’s pursuit of the Mister Universe International title is a testament to his determination and the power of following one’s dreams, regardless of his professional background. His decision to enter a male pageant was a bold move that defied the notion that individuals must fit into one mold and stick to a single career path.

Premaul’s story will serve as an inspiration to many who believe that their dreams were out of reach due to their chosen professions.

Premaul hails from Crabwood Creek, and will be representing Guyana, as he vies for the Mister Universe International title at the Mister Universe Pageant held at Panama in October. He grew up with his parents and two siblings. From a tender age, his parents instilled the values of humility and togetherness.  His father was a cane-cutter and his mother, a housewife. Although they weren’t monetarily wealthy, love and laughter were shared amongst everyone in their little home.

However, 8 years ago, Persaud moved to Florida, United States of America and even though he had left his homeland, he never forgot his roots. He loves his fellow Guyanese and proudly represents Guyana, wherever he goes.

Persaud strongly believes that patriotic individuals are the country’s pride.  He considers the 6 ethnic groups as a melting pot of  cultures, as such, he’s inspired to share Guyana’s rich cultural heritage, since it is a trademark of any Guyanese wherever they may venture.

In an interview with this publication, Persaud noted that he’s a work in progress and while he has never been involved in pageantry, he knows that this platform will definitely allow him the access to serve his motherland and simultaneously, propel his self-development journey. It has always been a dream of his to represent his country on an international stage.

Since it is the 7th edition of the competition, he is experiencing a surrealistic dreamlike feeling and he wholeheartedly believes that this competition is about exquisite Guyana and his service and philanthropism to his country. The nation’s land is covered in 70% of prestigious rainforests which attracts tourists in turn boosting the country’s tourism industry. Guyanese tremendously care about their environment, including himself, which led him to choose the platform “Environmental Sustainability” for the pageant. He firmly believes that the world will be enlightened by this grand opportunity to expose his country’s biodiversity in relation to the breathtaking flora and extraordinary faunas.

Rakesh Persaud

He is on a mission, to become a man of purpose and inspire the next generation.

His story serves as a reminder that with hard work, dedication, and belief in oneself, anyone can shatter limitations and achieve the extraordinary. Rakesh Persaud is not just a paralegal; he is a symbol of inspiration and proof that one’s destiny is not confined by their profession but shaped by their dreams and aspirations.
