Police are investigating a murder committed on Mark Harris, a 25-year-old horsecar operator of Lot 90 Plum Park, Sophia, which occurred at about 19:30hrs Monday evening.
The suspect is a 20-year-old Laborer from Plum Park, Sophia.
Enquiries disclosed that the suspect and the victim were known to each other and had an ongoing problem.
On the date and time mentioned, the suspect and victim were both at a shop in Plum Park when an argument ensued.
The victim, who was allegedly armed with a knife, attempted to stab the suspect. The suspect held on to the knife, removed a pair of scissors from the waist of his pants, and dealt the victim two stabs to his body. The victim then ran and collapsed a short distance away.
The suspect left the scene and went to the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost, where he reported the incident and handed the scissors to the Police. The victim was picked up in an unconscious state and escorted to the GPHC, where a doctor on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.
One silver blade knife without a handle was found on the scene.
Several persons in the area were also questioned.
Investigations are ongoing.
