Former Government Minister and current Opposition MP, Dawn Williams expressed her concern over the video of the young 16yr old indigenous girl recanting her previous rape allegation against PPP Minister Nigel Dharamlall.  An allegation that caused him to submit his resignation and the President of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, to publicly accept.

MP Williams, in a Facebook live comment this morning stated that she woke up to a video purportedly done by Miss AXX FXX, a young 16-year-old indigenous child who alleged that she was sodomized and raped by Mr. Nigel Dharamlall, former Minister of Local Government and Regional Development. The MP expressed her disappointment that justice was not served and that the system failed the victim, the family, and the Guyanese people.

MP Williams stated that “There are too many questions left to be answered. One, If this was not true, why was there a request to go on administrative leave by the alleged perpetrator? secondly, why was there an offer made to resign? What exactly is the purpose of resignation? For those who have been monitoring, why was the report that was sent to the DPP returned for more clarification?”

The MP further stated that she and her colleagues will not stop following this matter and will continue to advocate for justice. “I will continue to speak up on behalf of all Guyanese and more so the vulnerable and the poor, indigenous people of this country,” said MP Dawn Williams.  “The people of Guyana deserve better.”
