The West Indies Women’s cricket team is gearing up for an exhilarating CG United One-Day International (ODI) series against Ireland Women, and Interim Head Coach Robert Samuels couldn’t be more delighted with his team’s preparation and dedication.

Following an intensive training camp held in St Lucia over the past 10 days, Samuels commended the hard work and commitment demonstrated by the players. They have been energetic in the training sessions, giving their all and showing tremendous progress in their skills. While acknowledging that Ireland is currently ranked lower than the West Indies Women, he emphasized that they have shown significant improvement over the years. The team will approach Ireland’s challenge with respect

“Although they are ranked below us, they are a team very much improving. We played against them in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and they gave us a run for our money. The ladies have really stepped up and given 100% when asked to and I happy with what I’m seeing,” Samuels said. “It’s a short tour and I’m happy with where we are as a team. We have a few Rising Stars Under 19 players and this will give them the exposure to develop their craft. Having the young players in the setup will allow the older players to pass on their knowledge and the younger ones can add to their talents and I’m sure we’d see them feature throughout the series.”

The CG United ODI series between Western News Women and Ireland Women not only promises captivating cricket but also carries immense significance in terms of the ICC Women’s Championship with vital points up for grabs. Coach Samuels and his team understand the importance of securing victory in this series as it directly impacts their chances of qualifying for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup scheduled for India in 2025.

Match tickets are available online from the Windies Tickets service, presented by Mastercard – Tickets.windiescricket.com – at a discounted price of US$6/EC$16 (USS3/EC$7.50 children and seniors) with tickets available on the day at the box office at a price of US$7.50/EC$20 (US$3.75/EC$10 for children and seniors).
