Trinidadian Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has sent condolences to the family of the children killed in last evening’s dormitory fire in Mahdia, Guyana.
In a statement today, Persad-Bissessar said she was “deeply saddened” by the tragedy that claimed the lives of 18 girls and one boy.
“As a parent myself, I can only imagine the pain and grief that the families of these children are feeling. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time, and I pray that you find the strength and courage to face the days ahead,” Persad-Bissessar said. “I wish to express my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones as well as to the entire nation of Guyana. The people of Trinidad and Tobago stand together with our neighbours in Guyana during this difficult day.” (Loop News)
