Kirwyn Mars, a beloved educator and popular figure in the theater community, was killed on Sunday night in an incident being investigated as a suspected murder. According to reports, Mars was fatally injured when someone driving his car mowed him down outside a house in Perseverance on the East Bank of Demerara.

Police investigators are still trying to piece together the events leading up to Mars’ death and are examining surveillance video from the area. Witnesses report that Mars and the suspect had a confrontation near the parked car, with the suspect reversing the car into Mars as he was making his way to the driver’s side.
