One can scarcely believe the absolute incompetence of the leaders who has been entrusted with leading a country at a remarkable time? Imagine being given access to billions of dollars in loans and oil revenue and the power to do create any policy to grow the economy and develop the country to improve the lives of all citizens. And yet, the PPP government, being handed an opportunity, not because of their brilliant planning or strategizing but simply because they have been extremely lucky. What do they do? they squander their luck and goodwill on personal vendettas, greedy land grabs, racist actions and idiotic fights.
Instead of using their incredible power to invest in the people of Guyana, to upgrade schools and facilities, to pay teachers, and to build a unified nation, they are so wrapped up in their own petty grievances that they fail to see the bigger picture. They wake up to pick fights — if it’s not Burke, it’s Hinds or Benschop or Duncan or anyone who dares to have an alternate opinion. Yesterday their lackeys attacked Red Thread, the day before it was GHRA, the day before that it was the Auditor General. Madness! It is clear that our so-called leader have no vision, no morals, and no clue how to run a country. Instead, they allow a sociopathic abuser to make policy, abuse citizens, and engage in rampant corruption. And now they have reinstated their favorite policy of having their political opponents arrested on trumped-up charges. How can anyone in their right mind think this is a good idea? The PPP will undoubtedly regret their decision, mark my words.
People are not shocked by the recent arrest of Working People’s Alliance (WPA) Executive Member Tacuma Ogunseye by the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) on charges of attempting to excite racial hostility or ill-will. This move comes after Ogunseye was issued a wanted bulletin by the police earlier this week. The reason we’re not shocked is that we understand the brutality and the stupidity of PPP leaders. They are bereft of humanity and devoid of any moral compass. They are simply greedy insecure men and woman, who lack the courage to counsel their Vice President and tell him his actions are destructive and will lead to terrible long term consequences. We are being led by some very cowardly and inept people. We are a lost nation.
Ogunseye’s arrest has further escalated tensions between the government and opposition parties, with the WPA and the main opposition People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR)-led continuing to accuse the PPP of racial discrimination in the distribution of cash handouts, land for housing and agriculture, infrastructural contracts and for engaging in a plot to steal ancestral lands from people who live in historically black villages.
Ogunseye is being accused of sedition and provocation by Attorney General Anil Nandlall, who is spearheading the case against him. However, some people have highlighted that Nandlall has not spoken out about Vice President Jagdeo’s purported racist remarks at Babu John recently. Furthermore, Nandlall has faced accusations of having more knowledge about Courtney Crum-Ewing’s murder than he has been compelled to disclose.
The government’s heavy-handed approach in silencing opposition members who have been critical of its policies has raised concerns about the constitutional right to freedom of speech and expression. Many believe that Ogunseye’s arrest is only going to fuel tensions between the government and opposition parties and risks a devolution into civil strife.
The PPP government has a duty to safeguard people’s rights to express their views without fear of retribution. However, it appears that the government is intent on steering Guyana towards turmoil and devastation. It is crucial for the citizens of Guyana to denounce the PPP’s fractious and discriminatory governing tactics and disavow the party entirely. The PPP is detrimental to Guyana’s well-being. The PPP must go.
