The Guyana Police Force said ranks today found 49 ziplock bags containing 51 grams of suspected cannabis during a ‘cordon and search’ exercise in the Plaisance/Sparendaam area this morning between 05:30 and 07:00 hours.
The Police said at about 06:00 hrs, whilst the ranks were approaching the Sparendaam Squatting area, several persons were seen running from several small shops that are situated on the eastern side of an access road.
The area was searched and in a clump of bushes, the ranks said, and they found a black plastic bag containing 49 small ziploc bags with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis which, when weighed, amounted to 51 grams.
Investigations are ongoing.
