STEMGuyana, a non-profit organization, is committed to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Guyana. In its quest to expand its reach and impact, STEMGuyana recently launched their region 9 STEM club expansion program with a ‘Train the Trainer’ session at the Lethem Resource Center. The session was aimed at training club leaders and volunteers on how to manage a STEMGuyana club, navigate the learning tools, and teach robotics and coding lessons.  The training sessions are scheduled for multiple locations across region 9 over the next two days in keeping with the implementation of STEMGuyana’s club expansion program across the country.

The session was led by STEMGuyana’s Program Analyst Akeisha Cave and Administrator Dominic Budhan. The trainers provided participants with a comprehensive training program that equipped them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage a STEMGuyana club. The training program included instruction on how to use the learning tools, how to teach robotics and coding lessons, and how to implement a club expansion program across the country. The training is one component of the requirements for club leader certification based on the recently signed agreement between STEMGuyana and the IYRO international body.

STEMGuyana’s club expansion program aims to establish STEM clubs in schools and communities across the country. These clubs will serve as a platform for students and volunteers to learn and develop their STEM skills and knowledge, solve problems, learn about multiple new technologies, and prepare for future leadership roles and careers in STEM. The program is designed to promote STEM education and provide students with opportunities to explore STEM in a fun way outside of the classroom.

The ‘Train the Trainer’ session in Lethem was sponsored by US-based Guyanese, Ms. Nadine Jervis. Ms. Jervis, who is passionate about STEM education, has been a long-time supporter of STEMGuyana. Her support has enabled the organization to expand its reach and impact, providing more students with the opportunity to learn and develop their STEM skills.

STEMGuyana’s efforts to promote STEM education in Guyana are critical to the country’s future development. STEM education is essential in today’s global economy, and it is critical for Guyana’s future success. By promoting STEM education, STEMGuyana is providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the 21st century.
