Over one week ago, Commissioner Rohee sought to respond to my letter of January 22, 2023. In that letter, I exposed the contrived acts that the PPP and their cohorts at GECOM have been perpetrating in their concerted effort to take control of GECOM in the manner in which they have gone about trying to dominate and control every aspect of life in Guyana. Rohee in his response claimed my repudiation of his attempt to hoodwink the public about the legitimacy of the creation and filling of a position at GECOM is “not only misinformed, but woefully misplaced.”
The Chairperson has since decided to rescind both the creation and the appointment. Of course, in typical Rohee style no evidence was provided, and for that I commend him since no evidence is available and he seemed not to wish to descend to the tactics of backbencher Kumar, who in a recent letter unsuccessfully resorted to the art of fiction in his attempt to discredit me. He attempted to conjure metaphors as the basis of discrediting me with the hope of distracting the public`s attention from my cogent exposure of the scheme that is being pursued by him and his ilk at GECOM.
This delayed response is as a result of the time and effort that it took me trying to make sense out of what eventually I could only describe as a nonsensical response. Here are the reasons for that conclusion:-
I concede that nine years ago, I did not object to the shortlisting of Mr. Persaud for the job of DCEO. For Rohee`s information, shortlisting is prima facie. An interview is interrogative and may unearth that which was not evident on the surface. In that standard approach to the recruitment process, in the interview (interrogation), my attention was drawn to information that informed the conclusion that Mr. Persaud did not meet the academic requirement for the job.
He was not certified at the level of a first degree. May I repeat for the public, since Rohee and his ilk have buried their heads in the sand on this matter, the basis on which I objected to Mr. Persaud`s appointment was not a matter before the court. I have said before that I never accused Mr. Persaud of contriving but I maintained that the appointment was contrived. Rohee`s claim of me being a hypocrite is either imaginary or contrived. Much of what Rohee claims in his letter is as if he was standing in front of a mirror labelling the image “Alexander”
Having kerfuffled himself in the opening paragraphs of his letter, Rohee goes on in his confused state of mind to determine what to say through a me-riddle-me-riddle-me-ree process, in his third paragraph. What unfair advantage is Rohee speaking about? In no instance, when Mr. Persaud competed for a job, was another applicant appointed to the approximate position in an effort to give him or her the experience required for the position. If perchance Rohee is referring to the circumstance in which Mr. Giddings finds himself, it should be noted that Mr. Giddings was appointed to an illicitly created position – Operations Coordinator, which approximates to the one for which he has applied –Deputy Chief Elections Officer- and for which he does not presently have the required experience.
There is no such precedent that Rohee can identify. In other writings, I have exposed the PPP`s lip service to Good Governance. I refuse to pay attention to Rohee’s hog-wash about elements of Good Governance about which he and his ilk seem to know little about; do not apply; and to which they are not committed, even as they bandy the terms. Rohee’s juxtaposition of “homo sapiens” and “homo struthio” and his inference about me, reminds me about what is normally said about him. I will not descend into that pit of uncivil discourse.
Sorry Mr. Rohee, falsely creating a position and illegitimately appointing someone to it, is not a solution to the CEO`s cries for assistance. GECOM needs to appoint its DCEO post haste and stop embracing forms of mal-administration and manipulation in an effort to give the PPP absolute control over GECOM. You need to disavow yourself of your Founder`s mantra that ‘the PPP needed administrative power in addition to the executive power which it had acquired.’
