In a shocking turn of events, Kamalrudeen Mohammed, the Chairman of the Bush Lot/Adventure Neighbourhood Democratic Council in Guyana, was caught on tape going on a racist rant this morning. In the recording, Mohammed can be heard using vile and offensive language, including allegedly calling young PNCR NDC Councillor Colin Moore a “black S*&*7”.

The young PNCR NDB Councillor to whom this attack was targeted shared that, “I have never experienced this before, this goes to show the level of RACISM that still exist in this country. This is the man that wants to lead the community, this is the man that wants to be the NDC Chairman. This man must never be allowed to sit in the seat of the Chairman, this is a new low and a disgrace to the Office of the Chairman. This was in the presence of staff and three other sitting Councillors. I don’t know if I will ever recover from this.”

Another local citizen stated that, “this behavior is unacceptable and has no place in modern day Guyana. Racism and hate have no place in any society, and it is especially troubling when it comes from those who hold positions of power and responsibility.”

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of tolerance and respect in our political discourse. Politicians must learn to collaborate and solve conflicts in a respectful manner, rather than resorting to hate speech and divisive language.

A statement by the Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID) states that, “Mohammed’s racist comment was made with ease although he was aware that he was being recorded. This is the type of audacity leaders of the PPP display in demonstrating open contempt for African Guyanese.

They are this emboldened because are confident that they will not be punished by the PPP or the Guyana Police Force, which both adheres to the PPP’s cardinal governing principle of ethnic supremacy.”

Another councillor reported that, “The Chairman’s behavior in this incident also calls into question his suitability to hold such an important role. The people of Bush Lot/Adventure deserve better than a leader who lacks decorum, class, and respect for others. This incident raises serious concerns about the PPP’s decision to select Mohammed to manage the affairs of the community.”

A citizen who wants to remain anonymous stated that, “We hope that this serves as a wake-up call for all politicians and public figures to remember that their words and actions have a significant impact on the communities they serve. We call for Kamalrudeen Mohammed to take responsibility for his actions and to apologize for his offensive and racist statements.”
