According to Ali, the government wants to find ways in which citizens can continue to support the expansion of agriculture, in an effort to make Guyana a main hub for food supply for the entire CARICOM.

He told residents that unless the productivity of people and businesses is improved “We can’t achieve greatness, ”and what is required is the right technology, the right training, and the right research and development.

Residents were also informed of agriculture initiatives the government has in the pipelines and ways in which they can maximise the use of their lands, including through aquaculture and horticultural practices.

The Ministry of Agriculture is expected to play a leading role in the process.

Ali was accompanied by Ministers Charles Ramson Jr,  Nigel Dharamlall and Deodat Indar, and Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Water Inc., Shaik Baksh.
