“Chinese National Hospitalized in Critical Condition After Alleged Stabbing Incident at LBI Investigated by Police”

MV Barima COI Commissioners Sworn In Under Cloud of Scrutiny

Police are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred on January 1st at La Bonne Intention on the East Coast Demerara. According to a report received by the police, a 66-year-old pensioner called 911 at around 9:15 PM after hearing someone rocking his gate and then seeing a Chinese man running into his yard and screaming for help. The pensioner went to the back of his building and found the Chinese man, 36-year-old Xia Jun Zhang, lying on the ground with stab wounds to the left side of his upper body and covered in blood. Emergency medical services were summoned and Zhang was taken to Georgetown Public Hospital in a conscious state, where he is currently undergoing surgery in critical condition. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
