Prisoner found hanging in his cell at Timehri Prison

Martinez Rajas, age 24, an inmate at the Timehri Prison was found hanging in his cell this morning (December 24, 2022).
Rajas, a Venezuelan national, was found unresponsive during a security check at 05:20 hrs with a sheet wrapped around his neck from the ceiling.
A nurse on duty was immediately summoned where she confirmed that the inmate was unresponsive.
Thereafter, the police were summoned and the body was escorted to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where the inmate was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
An investigation is currently being conducted by the police and prison authority.
Rajas was remanded to prison on April 28 for Possession of Stolen Articles. (Police Release)
