Today, Police Sergeant Trotz and Corporal Gray from the Traffic Headquarters Education Unit at Eve Leary visited the Nursery Students at School of the Nations to educate the children on road safety, as part of the Force’s ‘Teaching The Nation’s Children About Road Safety!’ in Road Safety month.
Acting Commissioner of Police. Mr Clifton Hicken, told the members the Police must visit all the schools, including nursery schools and educate all Guyana’s children about the importance and the effects of using the roadways safely.
During the exercise children were separated into two sections, A & B, and were taken for a walk to the Junction of Main and Lamaha Streets, Georgetown, to be edified on Road Safety, such as the curb drill, the colours of the traffic lights, how to use the pedestrian crossing, etc.
These traffic lectures and initiatives, the Force said on its social media page, are part of the ongoing activities in observance of Road Safety Month 2022 under the theme, ‘Safe Driving, Saves Lives!’
