Police investigating alleged murder at Golden Grove

Police in Regional Division 4’C’ said they are investigating an alleged murder committed on Michael Wilson, a 40-year-old labourer of Lot 109 Sideline Dam, Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara which was allegedly committed by his 30-year-old wife of the said address.  The incident, according to the Police’s statement occurred around 08:15 hrs on Monday at the said address.

The victim and suspect shared a common-law relationship and lived together for the past two years at the Sideline Dam address where they occupied the upper flat of a two-storey  building. The police reported the couple had domestic problems. The deceased frequently accused the suspect of being unfaithful and would physically and verbally abuse her.

The Police said during an argument on Monday the victim told the suspect she was ending their relationship and would be returning to her parents’ house.

At around 08:00hrs on the day the suspect and deceased were at home when they got into a violent argument while the suspect was in the process of packing her belongings to move out of their home.

The victim, who was armed with a knife, assaulted the suspect and cut her on the left forearm.

The suspect disarmed him and dealt him two stabs to his abdomen, reported the Police. The Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) was summoned and escorted Wilson to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was admitted to the Emergency Unit in an unconscious state and subsequently died while receiving treatment.

The suspect was escorted to the Nabaclis Hospital by the police where she was seen by a doctor and was subsequently taken to the GPHC by EMT where she remains under police guard.
