CHESS ATTRACTS OVER 50 YOUNG PEOPLE IN LEGUAN

The Berbice Cricket Board today successfully hosted a mini cricket academy for just over thirty youths and kids in the Upper Corentyne area. The academy was hosted at the No 72 Cut and Load Cricket Ground and was sponsored by Dr. Tulsi Dyal Singh, an over seas based Berbician. Four BCB Coaches/trainers were present to conduct the academy, which is the second of four that would be organized across the county as we continue with our massive coaching programme. BCB President Hilbert Foster made his 125th visit to the area and urged the players to take advantage of the opportunities been presented to them by his administration. Foster urged the players to always strive for the highest standards and to make the sub association proud by going on to play for Berbice, Guyana and the West Indies. Noting that they have the same opportunities as the rest of the county, Mr. Foster urged them to work hard on their game. He informed the attentive youths that in the new school term, cricket tournaments would be played at the primary and secondary school levels .Each school in the area would also receive cricket balls, gears and a complete set of uniforms. Coaches working with the BCB in the area would also be involved in almost daily training and today received additional materials to assist them in their work.
Mr. Mentis and Mr. Thakurdin of the UCCA expressed thanks to the BCB for its continued investment in the sub association. We would like to hail the four coaches, the management of the Cut and Load CC for their assistance. Special thanks also to Dr. Tulsi Dyal Singh for his sponsorship.
