Becoming a mother can be both an exciting and nerve-racking experience, especially if it is your first time and you have no clue what to do.

While having a healthy baby is always top priority, equal priority should be given to the mother’s prenatal and postpartum health. And though some women are lucky to get advice from elders around them, others might not be that fortunate.

For this reason, mother of one, Lucria Rambalak will be launching her maternity care business, Maternity & Me. Maternity & Me is an online business which will be launching on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2022. The business will be offering products for prenatal and postpartum care and essential pregnancy gear.

According to Rambalak, she first got the idea of opening a maternity business during her first pregnancy. “The idea first came together during my first pregnancy. I don’t know if it’s a taboo subject but no one really talked to me about postpartum care before or during my first pregnancy,” she related.

The 35-year-old said that during her first pregnancy she wanted to be as healthy as possible during and after giving birth. However, Rambalak found that most of what she required and wanted were not available in Guyana.

“As for being a first time mom, I wanted to make sure that I was going to be safe and healthy during and after my pregnancy. I found that most of the items which I had researched online wasn’t available here. It took me a few orders to get everything which I thought I needed,” she said.

Rambalak noted that it was during packing her maternity bag for the hospital that she thought about the importance of helping other pregnant women in acquiring maternity essentials.

“As I was packing my maternity bag for the hospital, I thought about how important it can be to help other women like me. With this I can bring awareness to expecting moms who are planning to buy their maternity essentials by providing products and services and offer the information that is needed to help with their recovery,” Rambalak explained.

She said that her inspiration for Maternity & Me came from seeing how impactful it is when women help women. “As I watched and listened to tons of women who shared their stories, I realized how inspirational and helpful it was for me,” the mother said.

The upcoming entrepreneur stated that she is working towards expanding her business by providing a place where women can visit, shop and talk about their pregnancy journey.

Maternity & Me will be having a Mother’s Day Promotion and details will be posted on May 1st, 2022 on its Facebook page and Instagram Account.

Interested persons can visit Maternity & Me Facebook page @ Maternity & Me or its Instagram account @ maternitynme. Persons can also email Rambalak at maternitystoregy@gmail.com or call 592-665-2101.
