One day after a video of a female special constabulary rank being forcibly removed from a compound went viral on social media, the Guyana Police Force broke its silence on the matter, explaining that the incident took place on January 14, 2022.
The video showed the female rank being forcibly removed from the premises. According to the Police, the rank was asked to remove from the area but she refused.
“The said female rank was instructed that she was relocated from the said location to Constabulary Headquarters. She, however, refused the instructions given and continued to turn up to the location she was being reassigned from; and, despite pleas, she refused to vacate the premises, throwing herself on the ground as she resisted before being finally escorted out,” the police explained.
According to the police, an evaluation was performed on the female rank by external authorities, who on Monday April 3 submitted a clearance report to the Commissioner of Police (acting) Clifton Hicken, stating that she is only fit to work during the day.
Arrangements are underway for the Force Psychologist to meet with the rank and for a psycho-social analysis to be done, the police further disclosed.
