President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, His Excellency Jair Bolsonaro will no longer be visiting Guyana today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced early Friday morning.
In a brief statement, it explained that the presidential visit was postponed due to the sudden and unfortunate passing of President Bolsonaro’s mother.
President Irfaan Ali has since expressed heartfelt sympathy to the Brazilian President on his sad loss.
On Thursday both President Ali and President Bolsonaro met in Suriname for high-level talks with President Chandrikapersad Santokhi. There they discussed a range of topics, including the establishment of an energy corridor, oil and gas and other natural resources opportunity.
