Dear editor,

And this was spoken by Abraham Lincoln, “You can fool some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

For Dr. Frank Anthony ascended the mountain tops to profess that unlike the rest of the world, we have enough vaccines to provide all Guyanese, local and overseas, triple doses along with double dose for their pets. And with that he fooled some of the people all the time.

Then the very doctor stood in Parliament to report that we are so rich that we paid the super rich UAE twice the PAHO/WHO recommends price for Sputnik V. Mind you Sputnik V is no super vaccine. It is not even close to WHO approval. Yet Dr. Anthony claimed that belated pilfering, sorry that should be procuring was a time required to ensured all vaccines in arms are WHO approved. And with that Dr. Anthony fooled all of the people, some of the time.

Then Guyanese psyched themselves up for their second doses of Covid vaccines. For plastering the PPP news outlet is that 10% of us are fully vaccinated. Sorry, not 10% of us, that should be PPP and their fellow Alibabas.

So at vaccine centres they turned up, baring deltoids and mentally preparing for needle in arms. But as they reached the entrance a peculiar sign greeted their eyes, “We are closed. We have no Sputnik V for it has become Sputnik vanish. Ensure you read the PPP papers daily for updates.” Not wanting to fall for school pranks, since schools have been Covid glued for over fifteen months, they cautiously ventured in for clarification. The nurse confirmed the notice. Now PPP can’t fool all the people, all of the time.
For surely, Dr. Anthony narrative of abundance of vaccine was a blatant lie. All the nonsense he was muttering in Parliament were blatant lies. So where we go from here? One option is convert sugar to vaccines. Afterall, we selling it at a lost, for half of the production cost. Second option is to wait until 2022 for a few of the G7 one billion Pfizer to filter down to us. The third option is to reclaim the nearly $10B from the Sugar Industry which could be used to replenished Guyana, via mass IVF, after an apocalyptic Covid deaths.
May God rescue us from these buffoons.

Regards
Dr Mark Devonish MBBS MSc.
