Mechanic beaten, robbed of gold chain in front of Movie Towne

A 27-year-old mechanic, who resides at Lodge, was beaten and robbed by two bandits in the vicinity of Movie Towne on the East Coast of Demerara last Saturday night.

According to the Guyana Police Force, the victim was sitting on his motorcycle, which was parked on the Turkeyen Eastern Highway Access Road in the vicinity of Movie Towne when he was approached by the bandits, who dismounted their BMX bicycle at around 20:30hrs.

The men were armed with a cutlass.
According to the police, one of the bandits approached the victim and began to lash him with a cutlass about his body causing him to receive injuries.

The other bandit then snatched the victim’s 10 penny weight gold chain which was around his neck. The bandits then mounted their bicycle and rode off making good their escape. The chain valued $50,000.

Checks were made in the area for the suspects but none were found.
The victim sustained no serious injuries, but was given a medical to seek medical attention.
