I will not disobey the law or disrespect the authority of the government agencies

Dear Editor
I wish to clarify several erroneous statements which have recently been published in the local and social media alleging that I am involved with the company Superior Concrete Inc. I wish to state, categorically, that I am not a shareholder, executive nor a joint venture partner, have no interests in, nor am I financially connected with Superior Concrete Inc. I will neither condone nor participate in any illegal operation and I will not flout the laws of Guyana.

My company was contracted to provide equipment and construction materials to the location leased by Superior Concrete Inc. Our company along with many other contractors used the access roads and we were the only company to conduct repairs to the road on three occasions.  Our involvement does not extend to any concrete batch plant or any other area. I therefore reiterate that I do not participate or condone the breaking of the laws of Guyana, and we will not be party to any illegality.

Essequibo Dispute Driven by U.S. Interests, Not History

I have since been informed the Government of Guyana has issued a cease order and we are going to fully comply, with the law, as we have always done. Immediately, we have started to demobilize our equipment from the site and will fully cooperate and comply with the instructions from government departments and regulatory agencies.

I hope this clarifies the level of our involvement and urge that the misconceptions about my involvement, my family’s involvement and our company’s involvement are corrected.

Regards
Andrew Mekdeci
