Secretary of the TPCC, Tamesh Mohabir, receives donations from GTT’s CMO Orson Ferguson

A group of young cricketers from the New Amsterdam area will now be able to further display their talent at this year’s T20 Championship compliments of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GTT).

GTT recently donated the sum of $100,000 to the Tucber Park Cricket Club (TPCC) along with warm up jerseys and bottles, to aid the club’s participation in the tournament, the company said in a release.

The T20 Championship tournament, organised by the Guyana Cricket Board and Everest Cricket Club, will commence April 3 and conclude May 5, 2021; some 24 teams within the country are listed to participate.

GTT’s Public Relations Manager, Jasmin Harris, said the company is delighted to provide assistance to the young team and looks forward to them performing to the best of their ability at the tournament. “This donation comes as part of our yearlong 30th Anniversary giveback, serving as a reminder that we are not just a telecommunications company, but also a company that cares for the development of our youth and an integral part of the Guyanese society,” Harris said.

Secretary of the TPCC, Tamesh Mohabir, extended gratitude to GTT for its timely assistance. “We are grateful to GTT for providing us with the opportunity to participate in this tournament as we will all be able to not only showcase our talent and challenge ourselves, but to also enjoy the experience of playing with so many teams from across Guyana,” he said.  TPCC is one of two First Division clubs in the New Amsterdam area and has been in existence for overs 23 years.
