34 improvised weapons found during Lusignan Prison raid

A raid of the Lusignan Prison by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) on Tuesday morning unearthed a number of prohibited items including improvised weapons, cellular phones and wine.

The ranks conducted the raid between 06:00 hours and 08:15 hours in the holding cells. The following items were found: 34 improvised weapons, 5 cellular phones, 6 Lighters, 4 pieces of broken mirror, 3 cellular phone chargers, 3 earpieces, 3 SIM cards (2 Digicel and 1 GTT), 1 bottle of fermented wine and 7 bottles of oil.

The aforementioned seized items, as well as a quantity of suspected cannabis which weighed 34 grams, were later taken to the Vigilance Police Station and lodged.
