In an effort to ease the hassle and long lines for senior citizens to uplift their monthly pension, the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security (MoHSSS) has worked out a deal with money transfer agencies to facilitate the cashing of the vouchers.

In a press release the Ministry said pensioners can do so at any MoneyGram/Surepay and BillExpress locations countrywide.

“It is apt to note that pensioners are required to walk with their booklets and some form of Identification (ID) to complete the transaction,” the release added.

Apart, from encashing vouchers through the money transfer agents, pensioners can also access the service through their respective banking institutions or post offices.

During the presentation of the recently approved budget, government had announced an increase in old age pension from $20,500 to $25,000 with effect January 1, 2021, and an increase in the Public Assistance payment from $9,000 to $12,000.
