At about 18.35 hrs Thursday Janelle Stewart of Noitgedacht, Wakenaam Island, visited the Sans Souci Police Station and reported  that she did not see her grandmother, Sahodra Stephens, age 78 years, of Lot 15 Dumburg, Wakeanaam Island.

On receipt of this report, police ranks left for the scene along with the granddaughter who made the report on 2021 02.25 about 18:35 hrs. Enquiries disclosed that Sahodra Stephen was a pensioner who lived alone at Lot 15 Dumburg Wakenaam Island in a two-story wooden and concrete house on the western side of Dumburg Public Road.

Information received by an 18-year-old female who lives near the now deceased elderly woman is that she last saw Stephens alive on Thursday 11 February 2021 about 16:00 hrs at which point the woman  had indicated to her that she would be going to Georgetown the following day. It is unclear if the elderly woman actually visited the capital city.

Police ranks when they visited her home found that the door leading to the upper flat of the house was locked from the inside. The door was then broken and as the ranks were going up the stairs a strong stench permeated the upper flat. There are three bedrooms in the upper flat and when ranks went into the ‘middle bedroom, the mosquito net was down on the bed and the deceased was seen under the net swollen and in a decomposed state. The body was examined but no marks of violence was seen. The body is presently lying at the said residence under guard.  A post mortem is to be conducted as investigations continue.
