Police are investigating an alleged discharging of a loaded firearm with intent committed on 32 year-old Keith Johnson, an electrician of Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara by a 26 year-old self-employed suspect also of the same area Saturday morning.

Enquiries revealed that the victim and suspect are neighbours and were friends. During the month of October, 2020 there was a shooting incident at Prince William Street where both victim and suspect were shot by two unknown persons on a motorcycle which subsequently led to a broken friendship between the two. It was further disclosed that Saturday morning the victim exited his yard to go to work when the suspect armed with a .38 revolver approached the victim and started to accuse him of talking his name with a girl.

They both ended up in a heated argument during which the victim’s brother and others went out to separate them. The suspect then shot the victim twice to his left side abdomen, causing injuries and escaped. The victim was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was examined by doctors on duty and underwent emergency surgery. He has been admitted and in a stable condition. The suspect has not been arrested up to press time.
