Investigation thus far has revealed that on February 9, 2021, the infant’s mother Nicola Campbell took him home. About 16:00hrs, she said that the child started to suffer from a high fever. On February 13, 2021 about 23:00hrs the infant’s mother said the child condition worsened after he remained motionless.

The infant’s mother rushed him to the Barima Kariabo Health Centre and thence to Mabaruma Regional Hospital.

On Valentine’s Day, he was seen and examined by a doctor and was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is presently at the hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
