Minibus driver charged with causing death by dangerous driving

A minibus driver was on Thursday charged with causing death by dangerous driving contrary to Section 35 (1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02.

The accused, Rampersaud Persid was $250,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Peter Hugh at the Fort Wellington Magistrates’ Court.

Persid reportedly drove his minibus in a dangerous manner which resulted in the death of 30-year-old Shamsudeen Mohamed.

He was not required to plea to the indictable charge.

The Matter is adjourned to February 18, 2021.
