Carpenter arrested after stabbing miner with scissors during drunken argument

A 25-year-old carpenter of Barabina Hill, North West District (Region One) has been arrested by Police for the stabbing of a 27-year-old miner on Sunday.
Reports are that the miner, Myial Benjamin and the suspect, Fernando Fitzpatrick are known to each other. At about 16:30h on Sunday, the duo were imbibing when an argument ensured. Fitzpatrick armed himself with a scissors and dealt Benjamin one stab to his left rib.

Benjamin was taken to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where he was examined by a doctor and admitted. He is said to be in a stable condition.

Fitzpatrick was told of the offense and then taken to the Mabaruma Police Station, where he remains as investigations continue.
