A 27-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after crashing into a minibus at McDoom on the East Bank of Demerara Public Road on Wednesday.

Dead is Steven Armstrong, a resident of Hill Foot, Linden-Soesdyke Highway. The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, said the fatal accident occurred around 17:30hrs.

Initial reports indicate that Armstrong was proceeding north on the public road when he lost control of his motorcycle CK7037, and collided with a vehicle. At the time, the vehicle was passing an offloading minibus.

“As a result, he fell and suffered several injuries to his head and body and was picked up in a semiconscious state and rushed to the Georgetown Hospital by public spirited citizens; but was pronounced dead at 19:45hrs, while being treated for his injuries,” the police said.

No traces of alcohol were found in the driver of the vehicle nor the driver of the minibus.

The investigation is ongoing
