Essequibo labourer, miner charged with Robbery Under Arms

Two Essequibo Coast men were on Sunday charged by Police with Robbery Under Arms committed on 18-year-old Rudranauth Chandrika of Dry Shore, Essequibo.

According to reports, Chandrika was relieved of one Lifan motorcycle valued $220,000 on May 3, 2020 at Mashabo, Essequibo Coast.

The accused, Charles Abrams (28), a miner of Henerietta Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast and Travis Persaud (28), a labourer of Anna Regina Market Street, Essequibo Coast appeared before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Charity Magistrates’ Court on Monday where they pleaded not guilty.

Abrams and Persaud were released on $150,000 bail and the case was adjourned to February 12, 2021.

The men were arrested on January 14, 2021.
