The Matthews Ridge Airstrip and associated taxiway have been reopened to facilitate normal air transport operations into Region One (Barima-Waini) following remedial emergency repairs carried out by the Ministry of Public Works on Saturday, January 9, 2021.

The Airstrip was closed due to damaged sustained by heavy rainfall. The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has notified all aircraft operators of this latest development. The Ministry and the GCAA remain committed to ensuring the safety of passeng
