Dear Editor

Residents of No. 54 Village Middle walk back street are calling on the government and the Ministry of Housing  to address a current situation that is affecting them for the past 20 years. Residents are without electricity for years and the street is in a deplorable state which making the lives of residents uncomfortable.

The call is also made for the government to address the issue of residents who do not have legal documents for house lots they currently occupy. This will allow residents to  apply for electricity. Some residents are paying rates and taxes and are calling on the government to have this issue resolved so that they can have a good life also.

For years residents have been making a number of requests to have the government look into this current situation. One resident said he paid his rates and taxes to the NDC but whenever he has an issue and visits the office to raise his  concern,  all he gets are promises. One young woman also said that during the rainy season the operators of heavy duty machines drive their vehicles on the street damaging it in the process. And  when we tell the farmerd to assist in maintaining the street we are told by rice farmers that , that is the government job.

We the residents will be grateful for some officials from the government and housing min ministry to visit this community and see the situation and conditions we are living. We also calling on the local government representatives within the region to visit us so we can address our issues.
Regards
Justin Rajnarine
