The woman, who remains a patient in the city hospital, has been identified as Special Constable Aquaba Assanah.

It is alleged that a car (PRR 4561), which at the time was being driven by 39-year-old fisherman Bryon Mahendra, was proceeding east along the northern side of Cove and John Public Road (E.C.D) when the accident occurred.

According to the driver, who hails Hope Lowland Section D (E.C.D), while proceeding in the said direction, he turned on his right side indicator and stopped, when an unknown motor car stopped and signal by hand to turn south into the access road.  In the process of doing so, the motor cycle CK 5568, which was proceeding form east to west, overtook several vehicles along the left side of the road and collided the car.

As a result of the collision, the Special Constable fell to the road resulting in her sustaining injuries about her body. She was then picked up by public spirited citizen and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted a patient.

Investigations are ongoing.
