Dear Editor

The dawn of a New Year always brings with it a renewed sense of hope and optimism.
Such optimism, I believe, is not misplaced. We have, as a country, turned the corner and are well on our way to economic prosperity. Our oil and gas potential, once a distant dream, has now become a living reality.

Mohamed Extradition: Is Washington Now Playing Both Sides?

We have had our full share of challenges in 2020 but we thankfully emerged triumphant and stronger.
The above notwithstanding, we still have much work to do in the coming period in terms of consolidating our democracy and laying the foundations for sustainable development and the creation of harmonious and just society. This will require the support of all Guyanese especially our political leaders.
We have to rise above adversarial politics and place the good and well-being of our people and country above partisan interests.
I am optimistic, indeed excited, about the future prospects of Guyana. I encourage all Guyanese to share that optimism and put aside whatever differences we may have and work together for our common good.

I take this opportunity to wish all Guyanese a prosperous and productive New Year!

Regards
Hydra Ally
