Taxi driver crashes car after robbing his  passenger

Police are investigating an alleged larceny from person committed on Leroy Desantos a barber of Ocean View Uitvlught, West Coast Demerara Tuesday night.

The barber was robbed three gold chains.

Enquiries disclosed that about 18:15 hours, the victim along with the suspect and others were at Parika drinking after which Leroy joined the suspect car HB 3949, a white 192 for uitvlugt, however the Victim  fell asleep on his way. Upon reaching Crane the suspect turned into Crane Old Road and stopped the car then pulled the victim chain off his neck after which the victim was awaken and managed to pull back three pieces of chain and asked the suspect what happened.

The victim then exited the car and the suspect  sped off and lost control of the vehicle which ended up in a nearby trench. The victim then made further checks and discovered his wallet with $50,000 missing.
The suspect was contacted, told of allegation to which he denied hence he was arrested and escorted to the Vreed-En-Hoop Police station where he was placed into custody and three pieces of yellow metal chain  were handed over to the police by the victim, same was lodged at the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station along with the car. Investigation is ongoing.
