Armed bandits gun butt, rob taxi driver

Armed bandits stole a white new model premio valued $3.2M, one A21 Samsung mobile phone valued $48,000, a jumper kit valued $15,000, a Motorola radio set valued $50,000 and $2,000 from a Lamaha Springs, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown Taxi Driver.

According to reports, at around 20:00h on Tuesday 34-year-old Kevin Hope was hired from a city hotel by a man to taken him to Good Success, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

Hope arrived at Good Success at about 20:30h and saw two suspects, one of whom was armed with a hand gun. He was hit to his head with the gun and a round was discharged in the air.

Hope was then instructed to exit the vehicle, which he did and the two bandits then boarded the vehicle with the passenger who remained in the car. They drove off in a southern direction with the aforementioned items.

Hope was not injured.

Investigations are ongoing.
