Police Constable shot at Buxton party by members of ‘Team Diamond Crew’

A 21-year-old police constable is hospitalised after he was reportedly shot and robbed while attending a party early Saturday morning in Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

James Gordon, the injured man, who is attached to the Port Kaituma Police Station, sustained a gunshot wound to his back at about 03:00h at Middle Walk, Buxton.

Police said that the injured man left his Buxton home at around 11:00h on Friday for a party in the community and while there, he was approached by a group of men known as ‘Team Diamond Crew’.

Gordon was beaten by the suspect, whom he knows about his body and was relieved of his gold chain valued $300,000 and his mobile phone valued $120,000. The victim said he ran through Middle Walk after which the members of the ‘Team Diamond Crew’ fired shots in his direction. One of the bullets struck him in his upper right-side back. He fell to the road and lost consciousness.

He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was treated and admitted.
The suspect is still on the run.

According to the police, the suspect and Gordon had a misunderstanding last year after it was alleged that Gordon had broken off a rear view mirror of a car belonging to the suspect. The matter was believed to have been settled.
