Ganja trafficker crashes car in attempt to dodge police roadblock

Crashed car from whose trunk the illicit  drugs were allegedly removed

An early morning attempt to transport  a large quantity  of suspected cannabis sativa  from Berbice to possibly Georgetown,  went awry when the driver of the vehicle apparently panicked when he saw a Police  roadblock  , turned around and crashed his vehicle while speeding away.

The accident occurred at Brittania West Coast Berbice around 06:00hrs.

And then to the astonishment of residents who were trying to assist the injured driver, another vehicle pulled up from behind.

The driver of the second car  ran out opened the trunk of the crashed car and removed several bags. That  man then  ran into a nearby yard and threw the bags into the bushes.

That driver then ran back to his vehicle and drove away at a fast rate of speed.

The police were contacted on the strange  goings on and on arrival  they  searched the yard where the bags were thrown and found what appeared to be a large quantity of cannabis sativa stuffed in them.

The suspected narcotics  was seized and the driver of the crashed vehicle, a hire car,  who was unable to move away from the scene was arrested and taken to the Weldaad Police Station.

He was at reporting time still there assisting police with  investigations.

According to reports the driver of the second vehicle  who was apparently an accomplice in the movement of the suspected illicit drugs is being sought but has not been contacted as yet.

Some residents in the area are still bemused by the early morning drama.
