Corentyne pensioner robbed of jewelry and cash

An 87-year-old pensioner of No. 67 Village Corentyne, East Berbice –Corentyne was on December 20 robbed of a quantity of jewelry and an undisclosed sum of money by an unidentified male and female.

Police in a statement said that the robbery was committed on Homeranie Balram between 23:00h and 00:00 on the said day.
Enquiries revealed that at about 19:30h on December 20, the victim secured her home and retired to bed when “at about 23:00h she was awakened by the suspects who ordered her not to say anything as they ransacked the home and removed the said articles and money; the suspects then made their way to the upper flat of the building where they subsequently escaped”.
Investigations are ongoing.
