The Guyana Youth and Student Movement (GYSM) on Tuesday reiterated its call for justice to be served in the murder of West Coast Berbice (WCB) teens, Joel and Isiah Henry.

In a statement, the GYSM said that 100 days have passed since the gruesome murder of the Henry boys and the Guyana Police Force has failed to find those guilty of the heinous acts.

“Sadly, the hebetude of the Guyana Police Force has caused many to question their willingness to bring the perpetrators to justice. This barbaric act has not been meted with the requisite alacrity that is needed to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” the statement said.
Further, the GYSM accused the Police of being controlled by the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) to ‘victimise’ members of the People’s National Congress (PNC).

“We have witnessed the political mechanization of the Guyana Police Force by the People’s Progressive Party to victimize, disrepute, terrorize and falsely present trumped up charges to members of the People’s National Congress Reform. These odious acts in combination with the ethnic cleansing of our public sector, the swift return of a narco-state, the absent-minded approach to managing COVID-19 and regressive economic policies have rapidly caused the devolution of our nation,” the statement said called on the Government to “stop utilizing the Guyana Police Force as a political football or a dictatorial appendage and focus on bringing the killers of Joel and Isaiah Henry to justice.”
The GYSM thanked both the Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA) and the Black Lives Matters Movement Guyana for their continued push to see justice realized for the Henry boys.

“We pray that God provides peace and strength to the families of the Henry boys, as they experience their first Christmas without them,” the GYSM said.
