…driver of car arrested
A 24-year-old motorcyclist of Winkle Road, New Amsterdam, is nursing a fractured hip after a motorcar collided with him on the Chesney Public Road, East Berbice – Corentyne (Region Six).
According to reports, on December 13 at about 12:20h, the car driven by a 44-year-old woman of Sunannah Village Region Six collided with Keon Joseph (motorcyclist) as she was attempting to turn her vehicle.
The woman, who is in police custody, reported that her car was stationary on the northern side of Chesney Public Road, before she placed her right indicator on and looked into her rear view mirror. The woman said she observed that the road was clear and proceeded to turn from north to south when she felt an impact to the right side of her vehicle.
On the other hand, Joseph who was riding motorcycle #CF 9025 alleged that he was proceeding east along the northern driver’s lane when the car made a sudden turn from north to south into his path. Joseph told Police that observing the actions of the driver of the car, he tried navigating his motorcycle further south to avoid a collision. However, despite his attempt, the front right side of the car collided with the front of his motorcycle.
As a result, Joseph lost control, fell to the road and received injuries about his body. He was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor and subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he was admitted.
Joseph remains in a stable condition.
Investigations are continuing.
