“The bus was going with a speed towards Georgetown direction when he hit the man down but he should have been more careful driving in this area because it’s a town. When I go and see the man on the road I could have tell that he get hard hit because he slide a good distance from where he get hit and he was bleeding all over. At the back of his head had a lot of blood,” an eyewitness told Village Voice News.

Tilak’s mother Chitranie Samlall, in an interview with Village Voice News said her son was unmarried and lived with her at Lot 125 Albert street where they take care of an elderly man.

“This morning I send him to buy a chicken and he come back and was with me helping me take care of the old uncle that is bedridden. We used to live at Rampoor before but I was asked to take care of this elderly man and that’s how we move here,” the grieving mother said.

“When I go hospital to see him he was already dead. I couldn’t do anything. I was heartbroken to see my only son lay there motionless and I couldn’t do anything to help. His last words to me was ‘mommy I’m going out on the road to buy something,” she said.
Samlall described her son as a very helpful, obedient and loving child who has always been by her side.

“He always stay with me, he never married and I don’t know what I will do now. He used to work at the estate but he lost his job after it close and he used to be with me at home all day. He was never a bad child and now he’s gone,” the tearful mother said.

She explained that she was required to visit the Springlands Police Station to provide the Police with a statement. While there, she saw the driver of the minibus who expressed regret.

“When I go to the station to give statements, the driver see me and said he is sorry and that he couldn’t do anything at the time to avoid the accident,” Samlall said.

Meanwhile, during an interview with Village Voice News Samlall disclosed that she is not in a financial position to bury her son. Persons desirous of assisting the woman can contact her on mobile number: 609-4653.
